Competent Artistes has been involved in producing videos for an array of industries including mining, media, entertainment, finance, aviation, parastatals in utility, education, and other government departments and ministries. This has helped the company in honing skills to meet the most technical challenges and give clients the best creative output and visual realisation from their comprehensive briefs.
The following elements are key to us in driving or emphasizing strong messages in video production:
Client briefs are studied thoroughly, and researched further to determine the best approaches suitable, eg there are different production requirements and treatments needed for a laboratory technical environment as compared to an airport apron.
We suggest strong visuals to enhance the client's storyline, using original thought to create camera angles, resolution, composition and exposure.
We believe the usage of graphics or animation and overlaid text always complements visuals, and enhances the production’s central message, especially when the video is played without sound in an environment such as an exhibition.
The script is fused and applied as an adhesive component to summarise all the video elements in getting the key message across.
Under-bed music always adds a bit of flair and excitement in drawing the viewer’s attention. Competent Artistes owns an impressive library of music from several continents with full copyright clearance.
Translations are suggested where English is not the first language of the target audience. We use well-known professional voice artists in a wide range of African and European languages and re-edit our productions to fit language requirements – rather than forcing the words to fit a common picture and potentially lose nuances of meaning. We have produced mine safety videos in Zulu and Sesotho, CSI videos in Xhosa and Tswana, brought in a voice artist from the DRC to speak that country’s dialect of French, and an artist from Kuwait to give correct Arabic pronunciation.
